The collection spans all eras of NASCAR, from the sport’s early, bootlegging days through to current winners. The Hall of Fame also offers a range of simulators, tours, and exhibitions for you to explore. You can learn about what goes on behind the scenes in the lead up to the nation’s most famous races, and how drivers get through race days.

The NASCAR Hall of Fame goes above and beyond to make all areas and exhibits accessible to disabled visitors. There’s special seating in the simulators and the High Octane Theater – the 64ft projection screen that shows thrilling movies about the origins of NASCAR – and you’ll be able to get everywhere using your wheelchair or mobility scooter. There is plenty of parking adjacent to this attraction, and they have a limited number of courtesy wheelchairs available for guests to use on a first-come, first-served basis.

This fascinating museum celebrates Southern life and culture after the Civil War, and has a range of interactive exhibits highlighting the good times and the hard times of life in the South. The museum focuses on regional history, from the cotton fields to cosmopolitan city life, and there is much to be learned about the people who lived during these eras. If you’re interested in the culture and history of the South, then the Levine Museum of the New South is a must see when you’re in Charlotte.

The museum is wheelchair accessible, and strives to be fully inclusive to all visitors. There is a lot of ground to cover though, so we advise taking a mobility device to ensure you see everything and nothing holds you back from exploring fully.

Home to works by Warhol, Miró, Picasso, and many other huge names in contemporary art, The Bechtler Museum of Modern Art is a fantastic destination for art lovers. The design of the museum is modern and gorgeous, making it a delight to explore. The museum also organizes wonderful events, such as jazz shows on the first Friday of each month, and “Bechtler by Night” on the third Friday, which includes special programs like wine tasting.

There are 36,500 square feet to cover in this museum, so be prepared to spend some time there if you want to take it all in. There’s a lovely café on-site should you need refreshments or a light lunch to see you through, and an excellent gift store to browse as well. The Bechtler is fully committed to serving all visitors, and is accessible to those using electric wheelchairs and scooters.

With exhibits showcasing artwork and photography by renowned African-American artists, the Harvey B. Gantt Center offers visitors a deep look into African-American culture, and serves as an excellent resource to the local community and visitors alike. There are several permanent collections – along with frequent visiting exhibits – and a range of educational programs and tours available. The Center is also home to the Classic Black Cinema series. 

This beautiful new space is fully accessible, and there are a limited number of wheelchairs available for use by visitors on a first-come, first-served basis. Given that the space covers 46,500 square feet, we advise bringing a mobility aid of some kind to help you enjoy all the exhibits.
